What's the difference between a Virtual Work Experience (VWEX) and a Simulation?

A VWEX is built as a multi-stage journey — students move through several linked activities that build up a rounded picture of a role or employer, typically including reflection tasks, quizzes, and a completion output. It's the "deep dive" format, and students can pause and resume across sittings.

A Simulation is condensed and single-focus — usually built around one role, task or scenario. Some partners run one as standalone; others attach one or two alongside a bigger VWEX so a student wanting a quick look at a specific role isn't forced through the whole journey.

Pros and cons: VWEX gives deeper skill-building and more brand real estate, at the cost of a bigger time ask. Simulation is fast and low-commitment, good for volume and role-focused students, at the cost of a shallower, less immersive experience.
